Mission Statement

"The mission of Family Promise of Seattle is to mobilize local faith groups and other community resources to provide, with compassionate care, temporary housing, meals and case management for newly homeless families as they seek stable housing."

What We Do

We help newly homeless children and their families by getting them off the streets and into a stable, supportive environment that moves them toward self-sufficiency.

How We Do It

We coordinate a network of congregations and volunteers that provides community, temporary housing and food, while staff provides case management, advocacy and direction to help families access the resources they need to take care of themselves.

Who are our guests?

Our guests are families with children who are referred to us by established social service agencies.  We can help a maximum of 14 people at a time.  All guests are interviewed and screened by a Director; they sign guideline agreements, various releases and health forms, and develop a personal plan of action.  Persons with serious psychiatric, medical, legal or substance abuse problems will not be accepted into the program and will be referred to other agencies.  We do not ask our guests to worship and do not attempt to convert them to any religion.

Where will our guests stay?

We will offer a secure and peaceful atmosphere in a network of hosting congregations in the  Seattle area.  Each host site houses and feeds our guest families for one week every quarter; each family is provided with a comfortable sleeping space and beds.  During daytime hours the families will be transported to the Day Center site where staff will work with guests to find suitable living arrangements and explore job opportunities.

Join "Club 206" Today!

The continuing economic problems experienced by our nation, including our city, are causing an increase in the number of children and their families without housing.  As a result, the services we provide at Family Promise of Seattle are even more critical.  By joining “Club 206”immediate help can be provided for these children and their families.  Membership means a donation of $206 a year which translates into $17.17 a month, or $.57 a day.  The effect homelessness has on children is simply devastating.  The anxiety of not having a place to call home creates disturbances in all parts of their lives leading to sleep and behavioral problems, difficulty in school, and physical symptoms related to stress.  Your contribution now will provide immediate relief for these families in the form of shelter, meals and social services that remove the barriers to transitional or permanent housing.  You can change the world for these kids and give them a chance to really succeed.  Make a donation now by  clicking here.  So little can do so much!
